Stansbury Blames Islamophobia for Muslim-on-Muslim Murders

Melanie Stansbury of Congressional District 1 wasn’t elected for her intelligence. She was picked by the party to run in a mid-summer special election for the seat vacated by Deb Haaland when she was diversity-hired as Joe Biden’s Secretary of Interior.

Stansbury was prettier than Republican Mark Moores by a margin 61% to 36%. She now ranks as one of the most liberal members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Stansbury reminded voters this week why they voted for her. At a press conference detailing the apprehension of a suspect in the killings of at least two Albuquerque Muslims, Stansbury took the podium to remind everyone what a racist country America is.

“We would be remiss if we did not address the national profile that these tragedies have garnered across the United States and the terror that has not only affected New Mexico’s Muslim community, but our Muslim communities across the U.S. Our communities have been bracing to respond to the potential of hate-driven crimes, and the impacts of Islamophobia and other racist acts that have impacted our communities for far too long. We must continue to engage in that work, to engage in healing, and to recognize the open lines of communication between our communities and law enforcement is what helped to put an end to these specific tragedies.”

Racism was a fine talking point before it was revealed that these “hate crimes” weren’t committed by the White MAGA-country hick that Democrats so desperately hoped for. The suspect is an Afghani Muslim, which means Stansbury either didn’t get the memo before taking the stage, or she did but wasn’t quick enough on her feet to make edits to her pre-prepared remarks.

We’re not sure why she was chosen to speak. She played no role in the investigation. She allegedly knew one of the victims, though that alone did not appear to be a factor in choosing who spoke and who didn’t (no family members were given the mic, for example).

Perhaps there was a committee meeting where it was decided that someone needed to say “community” 26 times in three minutes, and Stansbury was the obvious pick.

Whatever the rationale for giving her a platform, the Definition Of Words won the battle against Um Like Sorority Sister Stansbury.

A phobia is an extreme or irrational fear of something. Islam is a religion. Islamophobia is an extreme or irrational fear of Islam. It can be a reasonable motive when Muslims are murdered. It is not a fair motive when Muslims are murdered by Muslims.

Somebody send that girl a dictionary.
