Imagine being a parent in Uvalde, Texas, waiting outside your child’s school knowing there is an active shooter inside. Police are there, standing around, talking on their radios. Not going inside. For 40 minutes.
Sounds familiar.
In February 2018, at the Stoneman Douglas shooting in Parkland, Florida, sheriffs deputies also stood and listened as children were slaughtered inside. The orders were clear: “Stay away!” “Do not approach!”
In Uvalde, parents were tackled to prevent them from entering the school to save the children.
Tackled.
This is another reminder that the police are not going to save your children. They do not prevent crime, and they do not solve crime. Police respond to crime. They survey the carnage and obey stand-down orders from the bureaucrats in brass. They dutifully write reports that prosecutors may or may not use in court.
We back the blue. They have difficult jobs and deserve more respect. But this is abhorrent.
