Freedom Lovers in Name Only are moving the goalposts faster than the snowflakes who wear masks alone in their cars.

They want to travel. They want to go to concerts. They “feel bad” for store employees who have to “enforce” dumb company policies. They’re “afraid” of the government fining small business owners.

They throw around terms like “informed consent” to justify when someone has to get vaccinated as a condition of employment, as if government coercion isn’t coercion if you eventually give in.

They say, “Don’t judge, but I got vaccinated so I can go to Europe” then go right back to posing pose with guns and ranting online about Communists.

They posture like freedom is a philosophical concept that can be boasted about on social media as they don a mask and get the jab in order to engage in civilized society.

They bitch and moan about their kids having to wear masks at school rather than doing the one thing they know would pull the rug out from under the bureaucrats in government and force them to have a little respect for the taxpayers who pay their salaries.

In the novel (and film) Sophie’s Choice, a mother tells her story of arriving at the Auschwitz concentration camp and being ordered to choose which one of her two children will be gassed and which will live. 

It’s not only a philosophical conundrum detailing the evils of Naziism. The story highlights the ultimate triumph of totalitarian terror when the government offers a mother a “choice” that no parent could choose.

For those who would call this an extreme example that’s incomparable to wearing a face muzzle to buy food or getting a Big Pharma jab to earn a living, ask yourself what the fate of your family is if you refuse.

If you post memes on Facebook saying “Freedom is not free,” live by that creed. Understand that some sacrifice is necessary in order to maintain freedom. Understand that your words mean nothing without action. And understand the moral lesson you’re teaching your children by capitulating to tyranny.

“Informed consent” is not giving in to illegal mandates because you want to go to the movies. Consent is only consensual if you have a choice to opt out. Freedom is have the ability to not give consent once you’re informed.

For those who need a reminder about what constitutes “informed consent,” here’s a refresher:

“This right to refuse forced injections, such as the Covid-19 vaccine, implements the internationally agreed legal requirement of Informed Consent established in the Nuremberg Code of 1947.

As the Nuremberg Code established, every person must ‘be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress, overreaching, or other ulterior form of constraint or coercion; and should have sufficient knowledge and comprehension of the elements of the subject matter involved as to enable him to make an understanding and enlightened decision’ for any medical experimental drug, as the Covid-19 vaccine currently is.”

• Fifteen days to slow the spread.
• Just avoid large gatherings and it will go away.
• Just wear the mask and things will go back to normal.
• Just get the vaccine so we can celebrate Independence Day.
• Just get the booster so we can have Christmas.
• Just show your vaccine passport so you can buy groceries.

There is a difference between vaxxing or masking because you want to and doing it because you have to.

If you give in to vaccination pressure because of your job, put in the five minutes of effort it takes to read, sign, and print an exemption letter.

If you wear a mask or get vaccinated because you want to travel, go to concerts, or shop, don’t pretend to stand for freedom.

Just yesterday at Cabela’s, as I waited to pick up my new hunting rifle, down the aisle comes this six-four 250-pound tank of man. He’s wearing an American flag T-shirt. Cargo pants. Boots. Tactical bracelet. All the signs of a of one badass patriot poser. He’s masked. As he wanders around, he turns and I see the front of his baseball cap (on backwards). It says, “Freedom is not free.”

Now, Cabela’s doesn’t care if you wear a mask or not. Like most stores, they’re paying attention to what the elites, movie stars and politicians are doing, which is signaling in public that they’re obedient but demonstrating in private that they’re exempt even from their own mandates.

So why was G.I. Joe wearing a mask? Was it his choice, or was it coercion, social pressure, and/or a false believe that there is any legal power behind the governor’s indoor masking order?

It’s possible that this guy was sick, courteous, and has been wearing a mask for years when he has a cold. But I highly doubt it.

New rule: Don’t pretend to be a patriot.

Stop talking like freedom matters to you if you’re going to give in to the false choice of a government acting outside its legal authority just so you can go to the wine bar with your purse dog.

Don’t pretend to be an upstanding parent if your only opposition to mask mandates in school is to complain on social media.

The time for half-measures and acquiescence has long passed. 

There is a reason President Joe Biden didn’t outright mandate vaccinations. There is a reason your governor is having businesses do her dirty work rather than going to the legislature to pass an actual law. 

“Don’t tread on me” aren’t empty words.

“Give me liberty or give me death” is not a meme. 

Don’t call yourself a patriot if you won’t stand and fight for the freedoms you claim to love.
